Social anxiety (also known as “social phobia”) is measured by the United States epidemiological studies as the third largest psychological disorder in the country. It is about 7% of the population that suffers from social anxiety, that is about 23 million people.

What is Social Anxiety

People with social anxiety are afraid of judgment or disapproval by other people. Usually this disorder begins to develop before adulthood and social anxiety can have a big impact on someone’s daily functioning. People with this disorder do tend to be very self-conscious. They feel it when they start blushing, feeling their heart rate speed up. This will make them feel embarrassed or awkward.

Joining a public speaking class can be very helpful to learn how to overcome social anxiety. Public speaking coach Herman Otten makes sure there is a safe space to practice your skills and to grow your confidence. To overcome anxiety it is helpful to learn from the other participants how they perceive you.

In addition to the support of the group, Herman gives you the tools to deal with your social anxiety. He teaches you how to become less self-conscious and how your interpretation of other people’s behavior may not be true. About Herman Otten

The public speaking class is taught by Herman Otten (July 4, 1982). He graduated from the Utrecht School of Performing Arts in the Netherlands with a Bachelor’s degree in Acting. After graduating, he worked in film, television, theater, and radio before specializing in public speaking coaching. He holds a U.S. Master’s degree equivalency in Communication. Since 2020, Herman has been teaching his public speaking classes in New York City, where he has earned a reputation as the highest-rated public speaking coach in the city. Practical information

Time: Full day from 10 AM to 5 PM
We have two 10-minute coffee breaks and a 1-hour lunch break.
Location: In the heart of Manhattan at Ripley-Grier Studios, 520 8th Avenue.
Lunch: Enjoy a great meal together at a nearby Asian restaurant, offering also vegetarian and vegan options. You’re free to spend the break however you’d like—if you prefer to have lunch on your own, that’s perfectly fine too.
Price: $597 per person (includes lunch, water, and cookies). Payment is possible via credit card.
PLEASE NOTE: We have a NO-REFUND POLICY. You can reschedule your class up to 8 days before the scheduled date. After that, rescheduling is not possible under any circumstances. If you reschedule, your new class date must be within one year from the original purchase date. If you can’t attend and miss the rescheduling deadline, you can gift or sell your spot to someone else.
